Mum on a Mission

This new mum is on a mission…to lose weight, to be the best mum I can, to be creative and to be the best version of "ME" I can.

Christmas cooking

December20

Well today readers (if there is anyone out there) I am attempting something I have never even contemplated before. I am making jam. Not a sweet, fruit jam but a chilli jam using Nigella Lawson’s recipe which can be found at nigella.com.

So far I’ve chopped up the chillies and capsicums (peppers), blitzed them in the food processor (I’m a bit worried I’ve over pulsed them though) and I have the sugar dissolving in the vinegar on a low heat so far it’s taken about 10-12mins and isn’t fully dissolved yet.

I saw Nigella making this on the food channel and the sound (and sight) of it really caught my interest and being budget concious this year I thought this would make a nice small gift for friends that I would like to give something to but can’t affrod to spend a lot. It’s supposed to be yummy on cold meats and cheeses and what is there always a lot of leftover on Boxing Day – meat! Or at least there is in our house.

Since being at home with DS I’ve been baking and cooking a lot and attempting things I never have before. Time has always been a factor as I never felt like doing anything after work and the weekends were always busy or again relaxation time. and unlike some people, including DH, until recently I never found baking or cooking relaxing but rather stressful!

I’ll be back a bit later to fill you in on how it’s going.

Hi, I’m Cheryl and this blog is all about my missions in life.

Number 1 is to be the best mum I can to my little boy who was born in May 2010. My next priority is to lose weight which is what prompted me to start this blog in the first place. It’s  going to be a place for me to share with you on this journey. I love to be creative so will also be sharing my flashes of creativity in all things artsy and craftsy.

I’m not perfect so I will endeavour to be as honest as possible in my posts especially when it comes to any failures I will most likely have in my weight loss mission and in my new job as a Mum. The most important thing I need to remember is when I fall off the wagon that I get right back on again.
